This tool calculates projected expenses for over 150 countries by adjusting for travel style and duration. It aggregates current cost-of-living indices for accommodation, local transport, and nutrition.
Budgeting relies on three tiers. The Budget tier assumes hostels, street food, and public transit. The Mid-range tier accounts for private rooms, restaurant meals, and occasional taxis. The Luxury tier estimates 4-star hotels, fine dining, and private tours. Regional economic variances significantly impact the final sum.
Formulas
The estimator uses a linear summation of daily cost vectors adjusted for the selected country coefficient C and style multiplier S. The total cost T is calculated as:
