Tile Grout Consumption Calculator
Estimate grout weight and bag counts for tiling projects. Supports various patterns (Grid, Herringbone), epoxy vs. cement density, and standard waste factors.
About
Accurate material estimation prevents mid-project shortages or excessive waste. This calculator determines the precise mass of grout required based on the geometric relationship between tile volume and joint volume. It accounts for the specific gravity of the grout material (Cementitious vs. Epoxy) and applies standard waste buffers associated with different laying patterns.
Unlike simple area multipliers, this tool uses volumetric formulas to output results in both Kilograms and standard commercial bag counts (e.g., 5kg, 20kg), ensuring you purchase exactly what is needed for the job.
Formulas
Consumption Formula (kg/m2):
C = (L + W)L × W × J × T × ρ × WF
Where L, W are tile dimensions, J is joint width, T is tile thickness, ρ is specific gravity (kg/dm3), and WF is the Waste Factor (typically 1.10).
