Square Meters to Tons Converter
Calculate the weight of metal sheets and construction materials based on area, thickness, and density. Includes price estimation and reverse calculation.
About
Logistics managers and construction estimators frequently encounter a disconnect between procurement (ordered by weight) and design (specified by area). Miscalculating the tonnage of sheet materials leads to overloaded trucks, structural failures, or significant budget overruns. This tool bridges that gap by converting surface area (m2) into mass (t) using precise density constants for over 50 industrial materials. Whether dealing with Mild Steel, 304 Stainless, or Aluminum 6061, accurate weight estimation ensures safe transport and precise costing.
Formulas
The core calculation relies on the volume of the sheet multiplied by the material density. To convert the final mass to metric tons, the result is divided by 1000.
Where Area is in m2, Thickness is converted to meters (input is usually mm), and Density is in kg/m3.
