About

Professional photography workflows often hit a bottleneck when high-resolution RAW files need to be shared instantly. Clients cannot open .CR2, .NEF, or .ARW files, and traditional conversion software is heavy and slow. Cloud-based converters compromise privacy and are limited by bandwidth latency.

This tool utilizes Direct Binary Extraction technology. Most RAW files contain a full-resolution JPEG preview embedded by the camera to display images on the rear LCD. Instead of re-rendering the raw sensor data (which requires complex demosaicing algorithms), this engine surgically extracts the embedded preview. This results in conversion speeds 100× faster than standard rendering, identical color science to the camera manufacturer, and zero quality loss.

Ideal for field journalists, wedding photographers, and digital asset managers who require immediate .JPG output with preserved metadata (EXIF) and zero server-side uploads.

Formulas

The utility calculates the compression efficiency using the ratio of the extracted preview size to the original RAW container:

Reff = Sizeraw SizejpgSizeraw × 100%

When selecting quality output, the quantization matrix scales approximately logarithmically:

Frequently Asked Questions

RAW files contain uncompressed sensor data (12-14 bit depth) plus the embedded preview. This tool extracts the embedded JPEG or renders a JPEG representation. JPEGs are 8-bit compressed files, naturally resulting in a file size 10-20% of the original RAW.
Yes. The parsing engine reads the TIFF tags (ISO, Shutter, Aperture, Date) from the RAW container and re-injects or preserves them in the final output file, ensuring your cataloging software can still read the metadata.
Adobe applies its own color profile (Adobe Standard) by default. This tool extracts the "Camera Preview", which applies the manufacturer's logic (Canon Picture Style, Nikon Picture Control) exactly as you saw it on the back of the camera.
There is no hard limit, but browser memory is finite. We implemented a sequential batch processor that handles files one by one to prevent crashing your browser tab. We recommend batches of 50-100 files for optimal stability.
