About

Anime distills complex emotional and philosophical themes into single lines of dialogue. A misquoted or misattributed line undermines credibility in content creation, social media posts, and fan discussions. This generator contains a curated dataset of 150+ verified quotes from iconic anime series spanning genres from shōnen to psychological thriller. Each entry is validated against source material and paired with its character name and series title. The tool uses a Fisher-Yates shuffle to guarantee uniform distribution across the dataset, preventing clustering bias that simple Math.random calls produce. Favorites persist across sessions via LocalStorage.

Filtering operates on anime title and genre tags. The share-image renderer uses the Canvas API to produce a typeset card at 1200×675px resolution, suitable for social media without third-party services. Note: the dataset is static and reflects quotes as commonly translated in official English localizations. Nuances from the original Japanese may differ.

Formulas

Quote selection uses a Fisher-Yates (Knuth) shuffle to produce an unbiased permutation of the dataset. The algorithm iterates from the last element to the first, swapping each element with a randomly chosen predecessor:

for i = n 1 down to 1 :
j = floor(random() × (i + 1))
swap arr[i] with arr[j]

Where n is the total number of quotes in the filtered pool, and each permutation has a probability of 1n!. This ensures every quote appears exactly once before the deck reshuffles, eliminating the repeat-clustering problem of naive Math.random index selection where the probability of a repeat within k draws is 1 n!nk (n k)!.

The share-image renderer calculates line breaks by measuring cumulative glyph widths via measureText() against the canvas width constraint of 1200 2 × padding px.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tool implements a Fisher-Yates shuffle on the entire filtered quote pool. It cycles through every quote in the shuffled deck before reshuffling. This guarantees you see all available quotes before any repetition occurs, unlike naive random selection where duplicates can appear within just a few clicks.
The embedded dataset uses commonly accepted English translations from official localizations (Funimation, Crunchyroll, Viz Media subtitles). Direct Japanese-to-English translation can vary by translator. For academic or publication use, cross-reference with the original Japanese script.
Yes. The genre filter supports categories including Shōnen, Psychological, Sci-Fi, Mecha, Dark Fantasy, Horror, Comedy, Drama, Isekai, and Fantasy. The search field performs a case-insensitive match against anime title, character name, and quote text simultaneously. Filtering rebuilds and reshuffles the quote deck.
The tool uses the native HTML5 Canvas API. It creates an offscreen canvas at 1200×675px, renders a gradient background, then uses the measureText() method to calculate word-wrap boundaries for the quote text. The result is exported as a PNG blob via canvas.toBlob() and triggers a browser download. No server round-trip occurs.
Favorites are stored in localStorage under a namespaced key. Clearing browser data, using incognito mode, or switching browsers will erase them. There is no cloud sync. For permanent storage, use the export feature to download your favorites as a JSON file that can be re-imported later.
Some anime series span multiple genres. For example, Attack on Titan is tagged as both Dark Fantasy and Shōnen. Quotes from such series will appear under any of their associated genre filters. This reflects the source material's classification on MyAnimeList and AniDB databases.
