About

This tool converts Portable Document Format (PDF) files into Portable Network Graphics (PNG) images entirely within your web browser. Unlike server-side solutions that require uploading sensitive documents, this engine processes data locally using the client's CPU.

The conversion process involves rasterization, where vector-based data (text, lines, curves) is mapped onto a pixel grid. This tool allows you to control the output quality by adjusting the scale factor, effectively changing the resolution (DPI). It handles multi-page documents by generating individual image files for each page, ensuring no loss of visual fidelity.

Formulas

The resolution of the output image is determined by the scalar relationship between the PDF point system and the target pixel grid. Standard PDF coordinates are defined in points (pt), where 1 pt 172 inch.

Wpx = Wpt × Sfactor

Where Sfactor represents the scaling multiplier. To calculate the effective DPI:

DPI = 72 × Sfactor

If S = 2.0, the output is 144 DPI. Higher values yield sharper text but larger file sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, making this safe for sensitive documents.
The default scale might be too low. Increase the "Quality / Scale" slider to 2.0 or 3.0 to render at a higher resolution (High DPI). This increases processing time but results in sharper images.
Currently, this tool supports standard unencrypted PDFs. If a file is password-protected, you must remove the password using a PDF unlocker before converting.
Yes, but browser memory is limited. For PDFs with hundreds of pages, the tool processes them sequentially to prevent crashing, which may take a few minutes.
