About

Portable Document Format (PDF) is the industry standard for documents, but it lacks the flexibility of raster images. Inserting a PDF page into a presentation, sharing it on social media, or embedding it in a webpage often results in compatibility errors or broken formatting. This tool resolves that friction by rasterizing vector data into universal image formats (.jpg, .png).

Unlike server-side converters that risk data privacy by uploading your sensitive files, this tool operates exclusively within your browser's memory. It utilizes the Canvas API to render geometry and typography pixel-by-pixel, ensuring the output is visually identical to the source. Users can control the output density (DPI) to balance between file size and print-quality sharpness.

Formulas

The resolution of the output image is determined by the target Dots Per Inch (DPI). Since standard PDFs operate on a coordinate system of 72 points per inch, we calculate the scaling factor S as:

S = DPI72

The final pixel dimensions (Wpx, Hpx) are derived from the PDF point dimensions (Wpt, Hpt):

Wpx = Wpt × S

Frequently Asked Questions

Higher DPI settings require the browser to render significantly more pixels. Doubling the DPI quadruples the total pixel count (Area = Width × Height). For a 300 DPI A4 page, the browser must calculate color data for over 8 million pixels.
No. This tool uses a client-side engine (PDF.js) to parse the binary data directly in your browser's memory. Your file never leaves your device.
If the PDF does not have the fonts embedded, the renderer attempts to substitute them with system fonts. This is a limitation of the PDF file itself, not the converter.
Yes, provided you know the password. The tool will prompt for decryption credentials if the file header indicates encryption.
