Metal Length to Weight Converter
Calculate steel, aluminum, and copper weight based on length and profile shape (Rebar, Flat, Square, Sheet). Essential for logistics and structural estimation.
About
Estimating the weight of metal stock is a critical step in logistics planning, structural load calculation, and cost estimation. Metal is sold by weight, but utilized by length. A mistake in tonnage calculation can lead to overloaded transport trucks or significant budget variances.
This calculator determines the theoretical mass of various metal profiles using standard industry densities. It supports common shapes like Round Bar (Rebar), Square Bar, and Flat Sheets, allowing traders and fabricators to instantly convert linear meters into kilograms or tons.
Formulas
Mass is calculated as Volume multiplied by Density (ρ).
m = V × ρ
For a Round Bar (Rebar), the volume is cylinder area times length:
m = π × (d2)2 × L × ρ
For Flat Bar or Sheet:
m = Width × Thickness × L × ρ
