Days Old Calculator

Tracking age in years obscures the actual temporal distance traveled since birth. A person stating they are 30 years old has lived approximately 10,950 days - a figure that conveys magnitude more viscerally than the annual count. This calculator performs precise arithmetic using the Julian day count methodology, accounting for leap years (years divisible by 4, except century years not divisible by 400) and variable month lengths (28 - 31 days). The formula computes elapsed milliseconds between timestamps, then converts: D = t_now − t_birth86,400,000. Errors in manual calculation typically arise from miscounting February days in leap years or timezone boundary conditions. The tool also derives your Western zodiac sign via ecliptic longitude date ranges defined by the tropical zodiac system.

The core calculation converts the difference between two Unix timestamps (milliseconds since January 1, 1970 UTC) into human-readable units.

Where D = total days lived, t_now = current timestamp in milliseconds, t_birth = birth timestamp in milliseconds, and 86,400,000 = milliseconds per day (1000 × 60 × 60 × 24).

For next birthday calculation, the algorithm checks if this year's birthday has passed. If yes, it targets next year. Special handling exists for February 29 birthdays in non-leap years (defaults to February 28).
