Child-Pugh Score Calculator (Liver Cirrhosis Prognosis)
Clinical tool to assess liver disease severity. Calculates Class A, B, or C and estimates survival rates. Supports multiple unit types (mg/dL, ยตmol/L) for automatic conversion.
About
The Child-Pugh score (or Child-Turcotte-Pugh score) is a well-established medical scoring system used to assess the prognosis of chronic liver disease, primarily cirrhosis. It aggregates five clinical measures of liver disease: total bilirubin, serum albumin, INR (prothrombin time), ascites, and hepatic encephalopathy. The result categorizes patients into three classes (A, B, C) which correlate with one-year and two-year survival rates. This tool features intelligent unit conversion, allowing input in varying laboratory standards without manual calculation.
Formulas
The total score S is the sum of points assigned to each of the 5 variables.
Classification:
Reference Data
| Clinical Parameter | 1 Point | 2 Points | 3 Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Encephalopathy | None | Grade 1-2 (Suppressed w/ meds) | Grade 3-4 (Refractory) |
| Ascites | Absent | Slight (Controlled) | Moderate (Refractory) |
| Bilirubin | < 2 mg/dL (< 34 µmol/L) | 2 - 3 mg/dL (34 - 50 µmol/L) | > 3 mg/dL (> 50 µmol/L) |
| Albumin | > 3.5 g/dL (> 35 g/L) | 2.8 - 3.5 g/dL (28 - 35 g/L) | < 2.8 g/dL (< 28 g/L) |
| INR | < 1.7 | 1.7 - 2.3 | > 2.3 |
