cc to Liter Converter
Convert cubic centimeters (cc) to liters (L) and liters to cc instantly. Precise SI-standard conversion with common presets for engines, medical, and cooking.
About
One cubic centimeter (cc or cm3) equals exactly 0.001 L by SI definition. This identity is not an approximation. The liter was redefined in 1964 (CGPM Resolution 6) as exactly 1 dm3 = 1000 cm3. Before that redefinition the liter had a slightly different value tied to the mass of water at 3.98°C, which caused errors of roughly 28 ppm in volumetric chemistry. Confusing cc with mL is safe post-1964, but mixing up cc and L by a factor of 1000 can be dangerous in pharmacology (drug overdose) or costly in engine displacement specs (warranty claims). This converter applies the exact factor with no rounding drift.
Formulas
The conversion between cubic centimeters and liters uses the exact SI relationship established by the 12th CGPM in 1964:
The inverse conversion:
Equivalently expressed as a fraction:
Where VL = volume in liters, Vcc = volume in cubic centimeters. The factor 1000 is exact: 1 L ≡ 1 dm3 ≡ 1000 cm3. No rounding error exists in this conversion. Note that 1 cc = 1 mL exactly under the current SI system.
