About

Cash App charges no fee for standard peer-to-peer transfers funded by a linked bank account or debit card. The cost structure changes when credit cards, instant deposits, Bitcoin trades, or business accounts enter the equation. A credit-card-funded send incurs a flat 3% surcharge. Instant transfers to a bank levy between 0.5% and 1.75% of the transfer amount (minimum $0.25). Business accounts receiving payments lose 2.75% per transaction to processing fees. Miscalculating these costs on a $5,000 invoice means an unexpected $137.50 deduction.

This calculator applies the current published fee schedule for every Cash App transaction type. Enter your amount, select the operation and funding source, and the tool returns the exact fee, effective fee rate, and net amount received or sent. It assumes standard U.S. domestic transactions. International transfers and boosted Cash Card cashback are not modeled. Pro tip: always verify the displayed fee against your Cash App confirmation screen before approving large transfers.

Formulas

The fee for each Cash App transaction depends on the operation type and funding source. The general model is:

Fee = max(A × r, Fmin) + Fflat

Where A = transaction amount, r = percentage rate (as a decimal), Fmin = minimum percentage-based fee, and Fflat = any fixed surcharge.

Net = A Fee

The effective fee rate expressed as a percentage:

Effective Rate = FeeA × 100%

For credit card sends: r = 0.03. For instant transfers: r ranges from 0.005 to 0.0175 with Fmin = $0.25. For business receives: r = 0.0275. For ATM withdrawals without qualifying direct deposit: Fflat = $2.50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cash App dynamically sets the instant transfer rate based on the receiving bank, card network, and transfer speed. Visa debit cards typically incur 1.75%, while some Mastercard debit cards may see rates as low as 0.5%. The calculator defaults to 1.75% (worst case) but lets you adjust the rate. Always check the confirmation screen in-app for the exact rate before approving.
No. Standard transfers (1-3 business days) from your Cash App balance to a linked bank account are free. The only cost risk is if your bank charges an incoming ACH fee, which is rare for personal checking accounts. Cash App itself charges $0.00 for this operation.
Cash App charges two costs on Bitcoin transactions. The service fee is a flat or tiered charge shown before purchase. The spread is the difference between the market mid-price and the price Cash App quotes you, typically 1.5 - 2.3%. Combined, total cost on a Bitcoin buy is roughly 2 - 3%. This calculator models a combined rate of 2.2% as a reasonable midpoint.
Business accounts are charged 2.75% only on incoming payments. Sending money from a business account follows the same rules as personal accounts: free with bank/debit, 3% with credit card. The fee is deducted from the received amount before it hits your Cash App balance.
Yes. If you receive at least $300 or more per month in direct deposits to your Cash App account, ATM withdrawals at in-network ATMs become free. Out-of-network ATMs may still charge their own surcharge fee regardless of your direct deposit status. The calculator lets you toggle this setting.
No. Personal accounts receive peer-to-peer payments with zero fees. The 2.75% fee applies exclusively to business accounts. If someone sends you $1,000 from their personal account to your personal account, you receive the full $1,000.
