A Single Skin (or Half-Brick) wall is the width of the brick's stretcher (lengthwise). It is used for non-load-bearing walls or veneers. A Double Skin (One-Brick) wall is the width of the brick's length, usually consisting of two interlocked layers for structural strength. Selecting the wrong type will result in 50% material shortage.
The tool uses the Volumetric Difference method. It calculates the total volume of the wall and subtracts the solid volume of the bricks. The remaining volume is the wet mortar required. It assumes a standard 10mm bed and perp joint. We add 15-20% compression factor for sand bulkage.
